Most of the time, I’m a teacher, a parent, and a wife. Then, when the house gets quiet, I become a writer very much lost in my own worlds. As an avid reader who enjoys many different genres including fantasy, mainstream, romance, horror, science fiction, and suspense, I tend to write in those same genres.
In addition to the novels and short stories, I also write lots of poetry and every so often venture into scripts.
When I’m not doing all of the above, I’m probably taking pictures of something. My family tells me I am a manic photographer. Surely someone else takes 1000 pictures on their family vacations, too. Most of those vacations are usually state or national parks with beautiful landscapes begging to be captured on film.
Lastly, I am also someone who’s life has been touched by autism. My youngest child is somewhere on the spectrum, and I’m doing everything in my power to help her succeed.

Great site, Maria! I have certainly enjoyed working with you and can’t wait to read some of your works. If only summer would come…..

Anytime, Kori. Right now Brit is in the middle of my second YA series book. She really obsessed with it. She’s even gotten one of her friends starting to read it.

Astonishing. My brother and I have both had huge problems with Asperger’s. I’m actually writing an autobiography that I may self-publish under a different name (that’s because I’m already trying to sell two novels).
I wish you the best with your daughter.

I really hope you pursue that. People really need education about this disorder, and the things which have helped my daughter the most are things not ‘proven’ to help–diet and vitamins.
